I recently renewed my passport from BLS toronto and it took around 4 to 5 weeks to get it.

I am planning to renew my Passport while I am waiting for PR (AOR received May 2nd week).
So would the Consulate would give me new Passport with new passport number?
If yes, how to inform CIC about this change?

My son and mine passport will be expired by March 2015 around.

I called BLS and suggested me to come around October month for renewal application.

I have question here? Shall we need to submit original passport to BLS office?
B'cas I got AOR on 3 July and Medical would be start around October and November month for entire family.

Usually passport renewal request has to be submitted prior 4 months of expiry date. So that they have some time to renew your passport. When you submitted for renewal, yes they take your original passport to process application. In case your renewal is not done and your PR medicals comes in between, generally most of the peoples take passport with them as proof of identity however I think there is also an option to show alternative identity like driving license (I am not sure) to complete medicals.

My passport is expiring in Feb 2015. I went to BLS in May. I got it renewed in early June and updated the new passport info to CIC for my CEC application. The reason i did renew early because my WP is expiring in Sep 2014 and i wanted to apply for BOWP. I think if i would have applied BOWP without renewing my passport then my BOWP would also have the same expiry as my passport. So since i now applied BOWP using my new passport, i should get regular BOWP extension period.

So i think one can always go and renew their passport at BLS prior to one year of their passport expiry. Hope this helps!
