@mimi0713:
I'm still drafting the notes/article on money transfer method via Paypal and Unionbank EON. Taas nga process, but online ra tanan. It's easy kay mag click click ra ka, but it needs patience.
Ako sah humanon ang documentation kay ako ning i share sa akong friends. basin ill write it in a word file. inig human nako, ill message you and whoever needs it para ma forward nako thru e-mail. Naka draft nako.
Just today, i transferred almost $2,000 CAD (from HSBC Canada to Paypal CA Account to Paypal Philippine Account to Unionbank) and the fee was less than $10 CAD. But the whole process is done online and it took me 8 banking days.
All you need is that before you come to Canada... you go to Unionbank and apply for an EON card and ibilin ni ninyo sa inyong saligan (not silingan ha hehehehe). That's just 350 pesos annual and you can pay next year's annual payment online. And of course, use a "common" PIN for the ATM card kay imo man ning ibilin sa imong tagaan sa kwarta (like your mama/papa/igsoon/tiya/tiyo/ig-agaw/boyfriendsss/girlfriendsss)
Or for those nga naka larga na, ask someone in the Philippines to apply for their own EON but ikaw ra ang mag manage sa paypal.
It may sound complicated, but in terms of sending money, its the cheapest... for example $2,000 CAD, the fee is $90 using moneygram but the transfer is complete in less than 10 minutes... so it really depends kung dinali-an ba? and how many times ka mag transfer ug money? If you're sending christmas gifts, or just want to save money in pinas and send money to pinas frequently, then you will need a more reasonable way of sending with less fees. Hence, I came to that and it worked for me.
One of my goal here in Canada is to save and send money to pinas, "JUST IN CASE" whatever happens... so we can just get a plane ticket and head off back to pinas and have money there. Also, when mag bakasyon nya mi didto, pretty sure dako ug gasto, so its better to have funds there na. and since we have parents and relatives nga "just in case" pud mangayo ug tabang, then there's something readily available. Good boy baya ko.
about the POF... well... if you are converting your pesoses all to 100 canadian dollar bills, then 10,000 CAD is just 100 pieces, which just one bundle. kung mawala, tabla. but if kung bank draft diay, dili diay mawala? or masulatan? or magisi? dili diay ma tabla?
for me, if I have 10,000 coming here to Canada, I'll split the cash to 3 different parts. some on my wallet, my wife's wallet and probably on a backpack? A bank draft is just a piece of paper, dali ra mawala.
anyhow, when we came here... I just stash it all on my wallet, i just used a rubber band to give me peace of mind.
We came here with that wallet, a backpack, 4 lagguages and 2 stuff toys. it was intense kay mura mi ug "nasunogan", but it was one of the best adventure I ever had.
so for those of you coming to Canada, enjoy it! It's a once of a lifetime opportunity.
@maharlika: im not sure if bank draft works that way, nga imo rang ipa cancel. If you know a bank that does that... please share.
