hi i need some help!

i just had a baby april 15th, 2009 (i'm canadian) and my husband just received his immigration visa today april 24th, 2009....now we hadn't put on our application that we had a dependent because until last week we didn't. now i read in the letter from immigration that because we now have a child the visa is invalid. is this true? are we back to square one or can i just inform the office of the new dependent? i can't believe they would not have an exception for this type of situation.

please help!! anyone know????

You don't have to start from scratch. You need to add the baby to your applications and then get the visa's issued again, for baby too.

If one of the parents is a Canadian citizen, then usually the baby is a citizen too, right? So they wouldn't need a visa for the baby, assuming the sponsor is a citizen. If she is only a PR, then I guess that would change things.

Does the letter give any explanation why the visa is supposedly invalid? What are they basing this on?

Oh, right, I totally missed that she's Canadian. In that case, it shouldn't really matter. The baby might have to be on file just to make sure all the i's are dotted and t's crossed though. It should not be a huge delay though.

If your baby was born in Canada or even out of Canada your baby is a canadian citizen. You can if you want to be reassured call them and ask them if you need to notify them. But I think as it will not have any change in your application it's just a matter of notification. Congratulations on your baby and your husband's PR :)

No need to notify CHC the child is a Canadian, so the mother should apply for citizenship certificate.
