HI all
I was approved for provincial nomination Ontario Province-I am applying for my PR and one of the requirement is to provide birth certficate-I dont have a birth certficate bcos those days no one really bothered to obtain one.
I live in USA and the Indian embassy in NY website says that it can issue a birth certificate-I also have my tenth class marks memo-Will these work?
Please let me know since I dont have any one in India who can go to the muncipal office to get a birth certificate.
Thanks
Ram

I dint have my birth certificate too. however i have provided an affidavit from lawyer and send it along with my application. so far they sent my AOR and i guess that mean its enough. No request for any other documents. This notary has be from your Parents (better) or Your self.

If your born in India . Specially in my AP they don't hold birth record before 1980. so ask someone to get it from India its the only ways is see.

THanks for replying-Yes I am from AP -So an affidavit from my parents stating my date of birth and that I am their son would suffice?
My father told me that he does not have my birth certificate.
Thanks

Hello,

Unfortunately, my application (received by CIO, NS on April 8th) was returned yesterday due to missing document "Birth Certificate". I attached my secondary school certificate (SSC) as a supporting document for Birth Certificate, since i had no other 'read across' and was using the same document for all similar purposes (applying for Temporary Resident Visa, Work Permit, PNP application etc) and never got any rejection. I explained the whole scenario to them, however, they didnt accept the supporting documents as appropriate. I think the major concern with my SSC is although it shows my DOB, it doesnt specifies the parentage (details of mother/father). The entire application packet was returned and they said that my application fee will be returned to me.

So the suggestion provided by CIC is to attach an affidavit containing the applicant's as well as parents' (father or mother or both) full names and applicant's date of birth, if the applicant is unable to obtain a birth certificate. So thats what i am going to do, and will resend my application.

So, can you tell me how you resent the application to CIO, NS - did you just attached the new/required document with the same application pack - OR - did you prepare the whole application again (all new signatures, changing all relevant dates etc) - any information with regard to my situation is highly appreciated !!

Also, can you provide e-mail address or telephone number to call CIO, NS personal.

Thanks everyone - hope to join the waiting list again soon !!!

Hello 'sherry999' - can you elaborate your question - on what basis was your application rejected ? missing 'Certificate of Birth' OR the document attached in support of Birth was not accepted by CIC - please clarify - in my case my wife's 'certificate of birth' was missing, so i have attached her Secondary School Certificate (it contains the DOB and parents details) and re-sent the SAME application package with a cover letter to that effect. I havent gone for any notary !!

Hi SaiSivaram,

Thanks for your quick reply.

I have applied to CIC on Dec 23rd and it has been returned to me citing the reason that the proof of DOB I have provided is not sufficient.
I have provided my passport and SSC mark list. On my SSC mark list my fathers name was not mentioned hence they are requesting an Affidavit or letter from Municipality for the reason why it cannot be submitted.

I have thought about all the options but it looks to me that affidavit is the fastest way I can submit my application with DOB. Hence wondering if anybody has a template of information which should be there on Affidavit so that Ii wont undergo this rejection process again.

Thanks once again for your feedback!

Hi SaiSivaram,

While sending the package again to CIC, Have you attached the new/required document with the same application pack - OR - did you prepare the whole application again (all new signatures, changing all relevant dates etc).

IN the returned application pack, they have marked/highlighted some fields, ticked in many boxes. So I am wondering shall I have to prepare a new package or Is it okay to send the SAME package and attaching the new document. In your returned application also, have they highlighted or marked or written any thing and have you gone ahead with the same documents?

Thanks in advance!

Print new application package with new signature and dates .Pay $550 again and attach new receipt .The previous fee will be returned by CIC Ottawa in your A/C after 3 months so don't worry about that.

I wouldnt recommend you paying again .. if you can re-submit the application quickly, you can simply attach the previous payment receipt - in fact thats what i did and there were no issues - if you take too long to re-submit (lets say more than a month), like 'Adi7' suggested better you re-pay the fee and wait for the reimbursement of previous one. BTW you can contact the following (by e-mail) regarding your refund:

Prod Hpm
NHQ - Finance | AC - Finance
Citizenship and Immigration Canada | Citoyenneté et Immigration Canada
300 Slater Street Ottawa ON K1A 1L1 | 300 rue Slater Ottawa ON K1A 1L1
Prod.Hpm@cic.gc.ca

Regarding whether to prepare new application - its totally up to you - but if you decided to use the 'already filled' application in your re-submission, make sure the version of forms is up to date (you can find its version at the bottom of each page) - in my case, i saw the tick marks & notes made by CIC staff on my application forms, so thought of re-submitting the same, so as to help them not going through the whole checking again. BUT LIKE SAID ITS UPTO YOU.

Regarding notary, since your parent(s) arent mentioned on the document, your best option is to go for notary - i will check with some of my friends if they have a template.

Thanks a lot 'ADI7' and 'SAISIVARAM'.

I have sent my credit card details for payment, hence that part is not an issue.

I will be submitting new application with Notary in a week or so. I got the format from the web, please don't bother to search for it. Thanks very much for your help on that.

I am still in big DILEMMA whether to send the same application or start all over again. They even had stamps on IMM008 form, corrected one field or so. To send the same application makes sense but worried as it should not be the cause of return of my application again.

Can you please confirm in your case when you have sent the same application you don't had issues because of that. Can you please also confirm if you had some stamps on the form so that I can think through it and take a call. Sorry for pushing you on this.

Also I have another query, initially when my MPNP got confirmed they sent a small sticker saying that , it needs to be affixed on the courier.

when re sending the application what shall we do on this regard.

Also if you gave the cover letter details while sending back the application, it would be great.

Thanks a lot for your support.

PS- I am also from AP, India.

Hello 'sherry999' - good catch - i am also from AP, India.

My suggestion is to submit the old set as well as a new set - there were no stamps on my forms but just tick marks in red - but since you see some stamps on your forms, that would really save their processing time if you sent the same package again - since you are sending a new set of forms, you are not in risk anyway - in your letter clarify the following points:

When you applied
When you got rejected
Reason for rejection
New attachment
If you are using the same fee receipt, explain them that you are doing so; and would like to do the payment again as required
Finally, explain them that you are attaching both set of forms.

Essentially, this is what i did, and there were no issues with my application; and i got AOR.

Hope that helps.
