birth certificate

just wondering, I am a canadian citizen and the sponsor for my wife that lives in costa rica, and I have to include a copy of my birth certificate, can i send a certified copy of my berth certificate? I obtain this certified copy, which is why I want to make use of it if it is ok to send it?

I believe the checklist specifies that you provide a copy only. Also, a copy of your passport info page is you have this.

The checklist only asks for a photocopy of the birth certificate for the sponsor but if you have a certified copy just sitting around, I can't see there being any issue using that.

You don't have to send a certified copy, but if you do send a certified one thats even better, they wouldn't have to do much screening. Atleast thats what I think...
