Hi Everyone,

I know that for Police Certificate it needs to be submitted within 3 months of issue. Is there a timeline for Birth Certificate as well?

Thanks very much!

Nope, a copy has to be submitted with the application. Anyhow, birth certificates typically is used close to when we are born :)

Thanks for your answer!

I didn't get a Birth Certificate when I was born. I had to ask the public notary to issue one recently. Do you think original is acceptable? ON the checklist, it says photocopy.

Thank you!

Yes! Don't send your original in, you won't get it back :) Just a photo copy will suffice.

If I understand it right, if you are sending in a notarized affidavit, it has to be sent in original.

I don't need to get it back. My certificate in not English. If I submit a photocopy, it needs to be a certified as a true copy. It'll be much easier to submit the original. Is the original acceptable? or it has to be photocopy?

Thanks!

Oops, is this just a notarized copy stating that you were born on such and such date? I misunderstood. If this is the case, you will need to submit this in original.

I have the original Birth Certificate issued from public Notary, from another country, and it's translated by the Notary already.

If I submit the photocopy of the Birth Certificate, so much more needs to be done, such as that the the photocopy need to be certified.

If I submit the original birth Certificate, I don't need to get it certified. I don't know if I can submit the original instead of the photocopy since the checklist says it needs to be photocopy.

What will happen if I submit original documents to CIC when they ask for photocopy?

Thanks very much for all your response!

The photocopy is for the birth certificate and not for affidavit.

so, in short, nothing will happen, CIC will process your application IF you submit the original affidavit.
