Hi all,

Birth certificate for my spouse(dependant) is getting delayed in the muncipality back in India. I have a predicament.

My last day here is fast approaching(my company is offboarding me to Bangalore soon). I have WP till 2013-Dec-06. However my last day here may be Oct-31 and I want to submit the application asap.

Can I submit these as an alternative for birth certificate (with a covering letter)
1. 10th certificate which shows her DOB and her father's name OR
2. 12th cert

OR
3. Give the whole application package to my friend here and send him the birth certificate from India so that he can add it to the applic post it on my behalf? (I will not be physically present in Canada then, however my WP will be still active)

Please respond ASAP.

Hi, I had the same problem for me and for my spouse. I got the 10th certificates notarized and applied on Aug 23rd, not sure if that works out , currently waiting for AOR. I will let you know if it gets approved and I get AOR.

yes this will work.

I have given Certificate of Date of Birth from Consulate General of India, but it seems this does not work and they returned my application saying they don't accept it. And instead I should give the secoundary school certificate for that.

Thanks.

10th certificate is more than enough, I have included them in my file, make sure 10th certificate has any of your parents name, and it should be in English

I would suggest to apply with letter from consulate and notarized mark sheets but also keep a covering letter mentioning why you were not able to send birth certificate now. Also mention you will send birth certificate separately to CIC as soon as you get it.

Awesome. Thank you all.

I am going to go with the 10th class copy + affidavit. Called Jeff Brown on Bloor St West and got confirmed that theywould certify the affidavit prepared by us. (http://toronto-notary-public.com/about.htm) . Booked an APpt on Monday.

Thank you all again. Your comments were extremely helpful

Nowadays CIC is neither accepting 10th/12th certificate nor Certificate of date of birth from Indian consulate. So these options are of no use. In the recent months lot of rejections happened due to birth certificate issue, NOC mismatch and roles and responsibilities (reference letter).

So try to provide Birth Certificate from India itself. I very well know that it would be time consuming and tedious, but no other go.
In the worst case there is one solution - Try to furnish the DOB Affidavit notarized by a public lawyer in Canada. Chk this link : http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/very-urgent-affidavit-format-for-dob-certificate-t122844.0.html

All the very best!

hello guys, I am canadian permanent resident. I am gonna sponsor my wife, who is from India. She doesnt have her birth certificate and we tried everything to get issued the new one. But there was not a single output. She did have in native language but the name written over is just "LARKI" which means girl. As in old times, some hospitals just write down the gender on the birth certificate. So Is it mandatory to add birth certificate, or 10th or +2 certificate can be used ?
Please help
