Hello all,

I am from India and I don't have birth certificate and I am planning to apply in Ontario.

In my School's leaving certificate and in passport both are same.

Please guide me what should I do? Is it necessary to provide birth certificate or school LC and Passport is sufficient?

My birth year is 1987.

Please help me. I have only 2 months now to apply.

Thanks,

You can ask a competent authority (Thasildhar/VAO/Corporation Commissioner's office) to issue a letter saying you do not have a birth certificate.

One of my friends did not have a BC and he wanted to apply for a passport. He had to go to court and file a case there to get the BC printed. Its a long process but he got his BC. I'm of the opinion that this process is going to take a while (a month or more).

If you cannot get a letter as mentioned in paragraph 1, you can submit other documents indicating your DOB and write a letter of explanation that you do not have a BC. I have not heard from people who have not submitted a BC so I am not really sure what the outcome would be.

You can take an opinion from other members too. Good luck and all the very best!

Along with affidavit and LOE, submit photocopy of PAN card, Aadhar card, class 10 pass certificate, voter id card etc. as supporting documents .... they all are valid government documents and contain birth date as well.

I hear some people are using their 10th grade certificate. If it is not in English, then you must get it translated and notarized.

Yes affidavit from lawyer is OK. get it notarized. lawyers know everything about these non availability of birth certificates. he ll charge 200-300 Rs for it. Get it done and send.
On affidavit it ll be mentioned that your birth is not registered and please consider DOB as mentioned on passport and 10th certificate. It ll work for u.

Hello all,

First, thanks all of you for your valuable replay.

Is there any chances of getting rejected if we doesn't provide birth certificate and only provide affidavit ?

an affidavit is fine. just back it up with all documents that you can.
When I applied for PR, I did not have BC either.
CIC did not raise any concern as my DOB was present on my academic records as well as passport etc.

Is affidavit compulsory? Cant academic records, govt. Issued PAN card and passport suffice?
Or is there a chance for rejection?

Technically, Birth Certificate is compulsory.
Now you are already asking for a favor when you say you cannot provide BC, but you will provide affidavit.
Asking if affidavit is also mandatory will be liking asking for a favor on top of a favor. :)

Hi Yog,
I remember that CIC did not ask for my Birth certificate. Once i got my ITA and i filled out the application, CIC generates personalized doc checklist.
Birth certificate was one of them.

alternatively i had obtained a "Certificate of Birth" from indian embassy but did not have any use for it.

The talk here is not about the post ITA application. Birth Certificate is required for applying to Ontario under its Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).
