Birth Certificate mandatory or not?

Hi,
I am planing to apply for Quebec immigration. my concern is that i don't have birth certificate, though date of birth is mentioned on my 10th class certificate. pl tell me do i need to get Birth certificate for applying immigration?

i also have same confusion, I believe 10th grade certificate and Notarized affidavit from parents may work.
Appreciate if someone with experience can guide here.
