Dear All,

I am striving to apply for Canadian PR in July 2012. I would like to discuss an issue here.

Do I need my original birth certificate to apply?

I have lost my original birth certificate somewhere. I just have a photo copy of it.

Regards,

You don't need to submit original BC, but you need to attest the copy. Therefore, you must have the original. I believe request an original BC is not big of a problem.

I was born in a small town. That time they issued a hand written birth certificate on pre-printed stationary. Now that system has changed to computerized system and they dont have pre-printed stationary to issue me a duplicate hand written birth certificate.

they give computerized ones now. on that certificate the issue date will be of the date i will make it (2012). this will look like a fraudulent document...

I don't think it should look fraudulent document. Like in my case, it will have the date when they will give me. e.g in any document when you ask for duplicate, it will have same date when they give it. e.g. educational certificates.

Photocopy is accepted, no need to send original certificate. If you are able to get it attested, then do it.

The computerized one will do.......just because it will be issued in 2012 does not make it fake.........get it asap and send it in your appln alongwid a letter explaining that u lost the old one and providing it from Ministry of Pakistan....

Order a new BC and have copy of it notarized to send with your application. If you feel strongly, you can explain in a cover letter that the original hand written BC was lost, so you are including a copy of the lost BC, in addition to your replacement BC.
