No, you can do it in the SC offices as well. I needed to get it ASAP, that's why I applied in person. Since when I don't know. Anyway, SIN is not an issue to discuss here, I just wanted to tell you my personal experience in SC office (Toronto). They only let 5 ppl inside and each person needs to be checked for Covid before going to the office. CERB is going to end next month and lots of ppl are going to apply for EI, which makes it much more difficult for SC to prioritize Biometrics. As long as you're an applicant based in Toronto, don't expect a call from SC in the near future.

Thanks for sharing your experience @Mario 66. Actually, when Service Canada closed initially in March this year (they said due to Covid-19) but on top of that "Hell" erupted in some of the offices. I heard people fighting, spitting and acting badly, cause of the long queue (waiting time).
I'm sure (hope) Service Canada has a dedicated procedure for Biometrics Collections (they had nearly 6 months to plan it).
There are nearly 34,000+ inland applicants since the middle of March 2020 waiting for Biometrics. There are those, who received BIL before SC closure too, who still haven't given biometrics and spouses and partners of primary applicants. It should be easily around 40,000 people and all we have is 158 in that spreadsheet. Hopefully, more people will participate and we will have a better picture of what is going on. Guys, Please, share the info about this spreadsheet. I'm sure there are people getting calls, maybe even in Ontario, we just don't know about them, yet.

Guys do u think they consider Mississauga as a part of GTA too or only Toronto comes under it? I know that Peel is a part of GTA technically but I wonder how SC is gonna operate.

As per IRCC’s website, not all designated Service Canada offices are offering biometrics collection services at the moment. So, you will get an appointment based on your proximity to the Service Canada offices that are offering these services. This is bad news for those living in or close to densely populated area like the GTA. I would think applicants in Mississauga will get sorted along with others in the GTA and calls will be made on the basis of AORs.

I think people living in GTA can choose the location i guess. Bcoz all the offices in close cities are just 1 to 1.5 hr drive from toronto downtown.
If that’s the case March april and may aors will be done is lesss than a month.
let’s wait and see that these officers will do from monday 21 sept

Yes, it is part of the GTA.

@indianstudent96 if not all (seven of them in GTA) designated for Biometrics Collection Service Canada offices working at the moment, then I guess we have to very patient and keep an eye on that spreadsheet for an update. Good luck to us all.

These SC phone calls are much better than nothing, of course. but why don't they email us? I hope everyone managed to answer the SC call. my phone now is 24/7 by my side.

common sense prevails, they expect now u to be around call anytime which is silly, now I understand why this country is not at level it deserves to be. Full on bureaucracy

Good.. your background verification must be showing completed now.. it took around one day or very next day after biometrics it shows completed.

how was experience there, the time they took to do biometric?
i have not done biometrics for PR application yet... but based on my experience when i did biometrics for WP ext. - it took one day after biometrics, to have the status of background check as completed.. so was thinking the same for @Kk kabobo
