Biometrics.. then passport?

Hello,

I'm currently residing in Switzerland and have to travel to Paris to apply for a visit visa. I have been asked to come and give biometrics, so I'm travelling tomorrow to do so, and wanted to check how to submit my passport as well.

I asked the vfs, and they said that I don't submit my passport with my biometrics because I haven't been asked to.
Is this regular procedure with Canadian Visas? Every other Visa I've applied to (Switzerland, UK, UAE) has kept my passport for around 3 weeks before returning it with the decision of the visa (either in it or not).

Why is this not the case here? Am I expected to then send my passport or travel again to Paris if I get the visa?

You will need your passport for the biometrics process.

You can then submit a copy of your passport (bio pages) to the Paris VAC/VFS in case you have not included it with your TRV application. You are not expected to leave your passport with the VAC.

All going well, you will get a passport request email. You must then mail your passport or submit it in person to the Paris VAC

Hello! Yes I got it.
I applied on the 16th of March online, got invited to give my biometrics till the 16th of April in Paris, so I went there on April 13th, gave my biometrics and got a positive reply when they asked for my passport on the 17th. I posted it by mail, and it arrived on the 26th to the Paris office and by the 11th of May I was informed that my passport is being sent back. Received it on May 14th with a visa till the expiry of my passport.
