Is anyone getting "not found" here too? I am pretty sure I gave my biometrics - around 4 years ago - when I was applying for the study permit and visa, however, with the info I provide it says not found. Weird, really. I do not remember giving it like exactly, yeah, but it is impossible to not give it and apply for study permit and visa, right? :D
I think it depends on your country of origin. I heard in this forum that some didn’t give biometrics for either study permit or visa before coming to Canada

Ah, snap. I've dug a bit and turns out yes, it came in effect in 2018.

True ! I din’t have to give biometrics as I got my WP in Dec 2018 and I hold an Indian passport. It became mandatory for all nationals from Jan 2019

Hey, is it possible to have a google document, to see those who already had biometrics done in the past (still valid) , and this was the only thing outstanding and the 6mth processing time from IRCC has elapsed? That way we can track to see if they are approving anything.

I received a ghost update today morning. But when I checked my account, nothing was updated And status was changed to Submitted
After hearing this news, I rechecked my account, they have updated my husbands biometric details. He already had his biometric done for his work permit.
I do not have any biometric done before so I'll have to wait for their call
It's a good thing anyway as now number of people requiring to give biometric is reduced.

AOR: 30 May 2020

Thank you for updating us. Can you confirm one more thing, please? When you say your call came from a private number, could you tell us if it had your province / city code in front of it? So basically, I'm trying to figure out if our city's Service Canada—where we will actually go to give biometrics—will be calling us or if they've devised some silly national calling system for this. (Good god, I feel like a detective these days.)
Oh there was absolutely no number of any kind. I have my phone setting in Korean.. lol and the caller Id showed in Korean, which can be translated as 'caller ID restricted' aka private/unknown number. So that means there's no way we can track the caller location..

Canada's new biometrics rules start July 31 2018:
Canada is expanding its biometrics collection program. Starting December 31, 2018, nationals from countries in Asia, Asia Pacific and the Americas will need to give their fingerprints and photo (biometrics) when applying for a visitor visa, study or work permit, or for permanent residence. This same rule has applied to applicants from countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa since July 31, 2018.

Oh I see. This makes sense. Thanks for explaining!

My Bio-metric is completed for work permit in 2020 and it is valid till 2030. I am still seeing the status user action is required. Please let me know if this status changed for anybody who has got bio-metric waive-off?
