Hi, that’s weird as I read the following:


Biometric fee
Applicants should not pay the biometric fee (CAN$85) for a new application for permanent residence, even if the system asks them to pay it when they submit their application.

Yes, it is weird like everything else about this process but you still have to pay. Why don't you try to submit your application and see if you can skip the payment. You can't and frankly, most of us can forgo the $85 if our application can be concluded speedily but no, you'll get the money back
 
I am not submitting it yet but sure I will see if I can skip when paying.

Just trying to understand how to do this all with less mistakes :)

Just go with whatever the system charges you (I'm guessing they haven't updated to remove the fee). Once your application is close to being finalised they'll refund the $85.
