Hi all,

I know it's been replied many times, but want to clarify these below one more time:
  • Photocopies of biographical pages: Does this only cover the page at the beginning with photo and personal info? What about the visas? Some others who applied earlier said that they send the full photocopy of their passport pages regardless of the stamps. Is this required?
  • If we'v been in Canada for more than 5 years, do we need to mark Yes for Required to File section for each year? Even if we studied for some of the years?
  • Silly question: When we are filling out the form and put an end date for an entry (ex. 2014-05-23); do we start the next entry's beginning date as 2014-05-24, or 2014-05-23?
Thanks a lot, and good luck!

Hi all,

Just the biographical page(s) is required. The visa(s) are not required at this point. It is no brainier to send all the passport pages with all the stamps on them. If I was the officer, I'd be so annoyed.
  • If we'v been in Canada for more than 5 years, do we need to mark Yes for Required to File section for each year? Even if we studied for some of the years?

Only you know how you should answer Yes or No. Ask yourself, for each year of the past 5, was I required to file and pay taxes? Did you only study without any work? or you worked part time? you should know better how to answer it.

  • Silly question: When we are filling out the form and put an end date for an entry (ex. 2014-05-23); do we start the next entry's beginning date as 2014-05-24, or 2014-05-23?

You are referring to the Calculator, I presume? Your end date is the actual entry back to the country. The calculator will do its job to count the correct amount of days.
Thanks a lot, and good luck!

Thanks Tonimir!

I am not able to find any description about the definition of "required to file"; even if I was a student I always assumed that I had to file my taxes even for small items (buspass; TA (which is on campus without any tax), etc.). Can we automatically assume that if a year is spent as a student without any off campus work, it means that a person is not required to file taxes for that year?

Just to confirm.. my apologies for the additional headache.
Cheers,

The doc checklist says "just biographical pages" but the instruction page does not say "biographical" I hate to send more documents than required but it isn't fully clear on what is required. They are also requiring border control document access so I guess biographical pagesis more logical answer (safer would be each page of passport). If you do send each page, send for each page not just the stamp ones. Remember only by looking at complete record they can verify if other missing pages has any stamp on it or not (to check misrepresentation)
