Quick facts

Requiring 14-64 year-olds to meet knowledge and language requirements provides an incentive for more individuals to acquire official language proficiency and civics knowledge, which helps them successfully integrate into Canadian society.

Citizenship applicants will need to be physically present in Canada for a total of four out of their last six years. In addition, they will need to be physically present in Canada for 183 days per year for at least four of those six years. These provisions will come into force in approximately a year.
Under the new streamlined decision-making model, citizenship officers will decide all aspects of a citizenship application. Under the old model, obtaining citizenship was a three-step process that involved duplication of work.
Since 2006, Canada has welcomed over 1,300,000 proud new Canadians. Citizenship and Immigration Canada received 333,860 citizenship applications in 2013, the highest volume ever.

Does that mean they will start enforcing the new residency rules by June 2015?

To check online it takes 45 to 60 days

How long to process an application, depends and varies. 6 months to 18 months.

C-24 = consequence of the fraudulent acts of some people just to be a Canadian citizen.

No its not. Its a consequence of gullible immigrants who voted Conservative while they were a minority.

The Conservatives represented a bigot (hick core). They need the ethnic vote to get elected and once they came to power they showed their true colours.

They also over hyped some rare cases of immigration fraud as an excuse to make immigration and citizenship harder for all ethnic minorities.

Anyway it is quite simple. Make sure the CONS don't get reelected by supporting the Liberals and getting commitments from the Liberals to introduce a bill to completely reverse all immigration changes the conservatives have made since they first get elected.

With out the immigrant vote the CONS are gone

Unfortunately this is not going to happen. Outside of immigrants, C-24 is quite popular. There would be a voter backlash if any party promised to scrap the "reforms" to the immigration system that have been passed

Hi
Pursuant to the Bill C-24 receiving royal assent and it now being the law, if I need to send a new application when will CIC Canada update its website with the new application form ? I suppose I cannot use the existing form anymore ?

C-24 is now Strengthening Canadian Citizenship Act, it has not been enacted, so you the previous Act is still the one to use, with the forms for that.

Good point. Still, I can't help but wonder if a new government might try and modify it in some way.

One question- does this law change the permanent residency card validity? Is the card still valid for (I think) five years?
