Really ???? Would you mind disclosing from where did u get this information ??? All that is mentioned on Parliament website is a Pre-Study by Senate .However still it has not completed third reading in HoC .

If you look carefully at the dates, you will notice that pre-study started before the report stage.

It passed the third stage of the House of Commons that is why it is in the senate stage, they will post the third stage of house if commons soon, the pre study of the senate already passed and it was on the third of June , the bill will become effective law on or before June 18, 2014

I apologize if I've overlooked it somewhere, but does the bill say ANYTHING about when the new regulations will become enforced, once it becomes law? As far as we know, it could be immediate (e.g. applications dated on or after June 18 may be invalidated due to the new rules), or down the road, allowing people to prepare, staff to be trained, websites and paperwork updated, etc (e.g so effective for applications dated say after Jan 1 (2015), etc?

They can't already have the new websites and forms ready to go, reflecting all aspects of the bill (to be law) as it stands, can they?

Unfortunately there is thing called the Interpretation Act, which has this as one of it's provisions:

Regulation Prior to Commencement

Marginal notereliminary proceedings

7. Where an enactment is not in force and it contains provisions conferring power to make regulations or do any other thing, that power may, for the purpose of making the enactment effective on its commencement, be exercised at any time before its commencement, but a regulation so made or a thing so done has no effect until the commencement of the enactment, except in so far as may be necessary to make the enactment effective on its commencement.

CIC would be quite within the law to have all the changes ready to go on assent/coming into force.

would you mind pointing out the date 'june 18 2014' is based on which article? Did not find any date related to the effective of C-24 on LEGISinfo.

The three senate readings could be really fast. As long as the 3 HoC readings are done, the three senate readings can really just finish within next week.
Guess the time line will be quite clear after next week.

At this stage HoC, Senate, Royal Ascent, CIC staff all might be ready for next week action. All they need Mr. Harper's instruction if he wishes to new law enforcement before June 20th.. Next week 5 working days are critical..

Signing on this petition and submitting to the ministry is like we are successfully doing our signing from our end but.. from their end if they do not accept it and passes it

for us applicants who have stayed qualifying years and are on the margin on applying for 2 months or few weeks we might miss the chance for the application

this week is the last chance if the people of this forum wants to do something out of it

a rally , demonstration, going in front of the media what so ever this is the last chance last opportunity some guy said doing an appeal the message was this :

" if some body file a petition in the crown court or supreme court and get the stay order, till the judge hear the petition and make the decision. "

So for the folks who really care about their application and the nearby days to be qualified if seriously you wanna slow it down i believe filing in the crown court would be a good idea

but still if somehow if it was possible to gather the attention of media something could have been done anyways if seriously folks you wanna slow it down... wanna make a get together a meeting Huh

2505 people surely if at least 1 thousand of us really could have formed up something would have done a little blockage I guess

There is only one way delaying the whole process, if some body file a petition in the crown court or supreme court and get the stay order, till the judge hear the petition and make the decision.

Is there any one in this forum who is a lawyer and could file a petition in the Crown Court or Supreme Court to delay the whole process of the bill ?

If we can surely contribute the money would do so
