Do libs plan to roll back the steep hike in citizenship grant application processing fees the previous government brought about?
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think so. I think it's better that they don't. Keeps processing times in check IMO.Thommo said:Do libs plan to roll back the steep hike in citizenship grant application processing fees the previous government brought about?
Her response is confusing me.MarceauBletard said:Now that those tweets have been published, the only question I'm asking myself is this:
If Senator Jaffer thinks they will vote on the amendments today and then the whole bill next week (and therefore being completely done by April 7th), why is she still talking about JUNE... I'm not sure to understand. Is there someone who understands it better than I do? dpenabill, marcher, spyfy?
PS: Yes, I know I'm quoting myself. ;D
She means 3rd reading about the whole bill. Until now, it was only about the amendments.razerblade said:Her response is confusing me.
"3rd Reading next week. Hopefully vote soon after" ... isn't 3rd reading going on ? Sounds like vote is next week ? or is this a tweet from last week ?
oh ok, thanks.MarceauBletard said:She means 3rd reading about the whole bill. Until now, it was only about the amendments.
I think what she means is that they will first vote on the amendment by McCoy (either today or tomorrow) and then resume with the debate followed by a vote on C6 as a whole. Yes, it is all part of the Third Reading, but it's almost as if the amendment is separate section/branch of it which they need to deal with first.razerblade said:Her response is confusing me.

Yes, that's exactly that, but my question still remains:JasFer said:I think what she means is that they will first vote on the amendment by McCoy (either today or tomorrow) and then resume with the debate followed by a vote on C6 as a whole. June because there are a lot of steps left. Amendment vote this week hopefully. Debate on entire C6. Probably will take a couple of weeks at the least. Then vote. Then parliament debate, vote and royal assent. Long way to go.MarceauBletard said:Now that those tweets have been published, the only question I'm asking myself is this:

Because they have 2 weeks vacation during April, then they will complete the work during MayMarceauBletard said:Now that those tweets have been published, the only question I'm asking myself is this:

Its not like as soon as Senate passes it, parliament will start working on it the next day. They will have to find a slot for it. Will all depend on whether the Libs have other bills that they deem more important. Remember they are going to debate the budget and also new marijuana legislation is supposed to arrive!MarceauBletard said:Yes, that's exactly that, but my question still remains:

It looks like they wanna first try with this amendment and see if they have needed votes for the whole bill. If the amendment passed, they would know they have enough votes for the bill itself. If not, they have to spend more time earning others vote.MarceauBletard said:Yes, that's exactly that, but my question still remains:

Wait, after the Senate vote there's a PARLIAMENT DEBATE AND VOTE? What is that? Do you mean the HoC?_MK_ said:June because there are a lot of steps left. Amendment vote this week hopefully.
