If we look at Senate readings of C6 before the summer break this year i.e before 20 June 2016 ,looks like it passed the First reading in just one day.
If the same can repeat for the committee stage(which is possible) and third reading(reasonable time can be 2 weeks though) it can get Royal assent in first or second week of Feb.

Merely introducing the bill in the Senate is considered 1st reading.

Hi
Yes, first reading does not involve debates.
But if the house of Commons committee is an indication, it took them 5 sessions and three weeks to complete.

Like everyone else i have my reasons for this bill needs to be passed. I am really happy for past week, because of the positive vibes regarding this bill's status.
No matter what, once i get the citizenship, i will always be with Trudea's government until the end. :)

Happy holidays Folks

Basic question: Does bill C-6 brings back counting the time spent in Canada prior to PR towards residency requirement?

Yes, within the last 5 years of the application date. [corrected]

Last 5 years or 6?I think bill C6 is all about 3/5 residency rule.

My apology, 5 years, that's right.

To a maximum of?

My apology, within the last 5 years NOT 6.
to a maximum of 2 pre-PR years (i.e. 2 pre-PR years count for 1 year of residence. Every pre-PR day to a maximum of 2 years count half a day).
