Conservative Senators keep saying Australia as one country where the residency limit is 4 years before becoming citizen. But there pre-PR time is credited upto 3 full years and only 1 year after PR is needed.

Post PR time or Pre-PR time does not matter at all.

The total time spent (180+ in a year) matters, as the time spent outside canada is already deducted.

Apparently she did not do thorough research on other country's residency requirement and misleads other Senators. Shame on them! The similar situation in the UK, if you hold the working visa for 4 years and then become PR for 1 year, then you are eligible for applying citizenship.

Just my opinion, I don't think HoC will ever pass this amendment even if it passes the Senate. This changes the core of C6. Without the residency change, C6 is useless.

i can't believe they're proposing this amendment at the 3rd reading ... after the bill has already passed through the first two readings. So stupid ..
