Politicians promise a lot of things , you can't really trust them to deliver on most of their promisessimoncanada said:Do do you mean there is no way this bill can pass by 2017
They why before election they promise that they will bring old rule back
Many of them in this forum hoping and waiting that this bill will pass
No no no I never said that. How did you end up with that conclusion from what I said? Seriously?simoncanada said:Do do you mean there is no way this bill can pass by 2017

Your take on this is realistic, the same way I feel about this - it is really not a priority for the JT government , especially with the Mosef(?) scandal , it just became more controversial even for themselves ... on top of that, it is not really that important for the main population of this country , it only seems important for probably less than half million people, i.e., people like us who got delayed by C24, and I don't really see how much more actively they are willing to push this throughmarcher said:No no no I never said that. It could pass in a month, or in 12 months, or more. I have no clue about the potential time frame at this stage. It will depend on many factors.
I think when you say C6, you need to clearly define what part of it you are really most concerned about. I said before that if you are mostly interested in the 3/5 rule, then probably you will qualify for 4/6 before C6 becomes law. That is if you were originally impacted by C24. But if you are concerned about the other provisions like the citizenship revoking; then you probably should be worried about this whole approach taken to resolve C24. What good is it if C24 comes back every time conservatives are in power?
A friend who applied under the 4/6 yr rule, got his test date in 3 months from the time of application. Oath is in another 2-3 months. Seems like processing is super fast now, probably due to a lack of applications.VFX_man said:Hi all, seems like it will happen when it happens . . . my only wish is that they would have done a "Grandfather" clause for anyone with PR on the date of the law change. Had a few friends who were just a few weeks away under the old system. I would have qualified last week if the old 3/5 with the pre-PR 1 year credit was still in effect.
Out of curiosity, since there was an effective reduction of applicants due to the change . . . that is that department doing for work these days? Or was there such a backlog that it didn't reduce their workload?
Cheers!
That will change in 1.5 years . . . they just moved the wave upstream. Would hate to see what happens if they revert back to the 3/5 --- bet it will be just when I qualify under the 4/6. Is there a ticket number machine?razerblade said:A friend who applied under the 4/6 yr rule, got his test date in 3 months from the time of application. Oath is in another 2-3 months. I have the same concern. Under the old rules, I would've qualified last year. But now I need to wait till mid next year. I have a feeling that's when C6 changes will come into effect. A flood of applications may delay everything. Timing is critical, i was screwed once before ... won't be surprised if it happens again.VFX_man said:That will change in 1.5 years . . . they just moved the wave upstream. LOL, in a fair world . . . they would go in "order" of qualification for the reimplementation. It could be a real mess . . . so hope they work out a system that allows those who were in the queue longer to not be "cut-off" by applicants who just hit 3 years.razerblade said:I have the same concern. I wasn't aware of the three tier system. Is this something that bill-C24 removed ?asifmehmood said:I don't see an influx of applications just because it will change from 4 to 3 years of residency. The applications are being handled by a single IO now unlike in the past when it was a three tier system ( IO/CJ/IO), also fee is playing a major role. Fee may not an issue for some singles, but for a family its a big issue.
