Hi all,

If am not mistaken, bill C-24 has been approved in the parliament as of June 16 and its officially law now. I am ( used to be !) due to apply for citizenship on Oct.2014 and I personally know people who were hoping to apply as soon as next month on July! :-X :o

How long it takes before this new law is implemented and enforced? if you check CIC website, it's still posting the old requirements to apply for citizenship!

Any thoughts or ideas, much appreciated!

As per CIC website approximately in an year and as per CIC call centre agent on 19th July 2015 .

Don't worry you are very safe ,just stick with your plan of applying by Oct. 2014.

It is now law, some of its clauses are already in effect, some will be enforced this year, but major changes will be the next year of June 19, 2015

Which clauses are in effect? How about intention to stay? Is this requirement been enforced or will be in July 19, 2015? If you obtain your citizenship before 2015, does that mean "Intention to stay in Canada" won't be applicable to you? Any ideas??

Where did you find reference to June 19, 2015? I didn't see anything like that on CIC website. Could you point me to that page, please?

The consensus is that C-24 will go into effect 1 year after it is signed sometime in June 2015. The actual day is up in the air.
