Biggest Loophole in CIC online application for TRV after getting PGWP approved. Please Help!

Hi Team,

I am stuck with CIC online application for the TRV, I applied for PGWP in Canada after my studies and immediately came back to India due to a family emergency. I'm glad to get approval on PGWP a few days ago while in India although my previous TRV (study visa) has expired. I tried filling the questionnaire on the CIC account and it's taking me to either "apply for PGWP outside Canada" or "apply for a normal visitor visa". When I selected the "country of residence" as Canada, it started showing the right application evidently, however, I am so confused as "country of residence" is India and when I entered India, it indicates to apply for the two visa options I mentioned earlier. Is it possible using the online application or should I apply by reaching out to the nearest VFS Canada centre. I have seen many candidates like me on this forum with similar issues although there is no perfect answer I could notice. I seek help from someone who have experienced this situation before and got a solution that worked. Kindly help me and thanks in advance.

Regards,

Bavsh

So you are applying for a new TRV? TRV and study permit are two totally different things
Hey mate, thanks for responding. My TRV related to study permit has expired on July 31st, 2018. I need to apply for a new TRV based on my PGWP since I am in India and can't travel to Canada without a visa stamping on my passport (worker status) even though my work permit is approved. The question is how to apply for the new TRV online?

Your country of residence at the moment is not Canada.

You need to apply for a normal visitor visa. This is not a loophole in the system. A PGWP is not a visa and you require a visa to enter Canada.

Thanks for the response. I understand that PGWP is not a visa, hence, I am trying to apply for one based on PGWP. I have seen many candidates on this forum who have got the TRV under a similar situation as a worker (not a tourist visa) when they applied for the TRV outside Canada after PGWP approval while they were away (maybe paper-based process at VFS centre). However, this seems to be quite confusing with the online portal as the system isn't evaluating my situation correctly with its questionnaire. If we apply for PGWP outside Canada, the TRV stamping is included in the process and we don't have to apply for TRV separately although it's a 2-way process in Canada where TRV application is the 2nd step.

On top of this, I got my PGWP approved applied in Canada while away from Canada and seek for the TRV as a worker from India on the basis of PGWP approved.

Well, you're outside Canada. So you need to apply for the second step. Your statement of purpose letter will exain your situation.

Thanks, do I need to apply for a new TRV in Canada to extend my stay assuming that I am applying for a normal visitor visa in India (in case the validity of the normal visa is lesser than PGWP validity) or they might assign me the same expiry date as PGWP? Would the status in my visa be a worker or visitor? It's complex for me, please help!

I have absolutely no idea. Apply for a TRV, or else you won't be able to return to Canada. When you can explain purpose of travel, explain its to use your PGWP.

A TRV is a TRV. It doesn't matter whether it is issued based on status as a worker, student or visitor. It also has NOTHING to do with status in Canada. You have a PGWP, so your status will be worker.

Thank you. Shoot me a solution please, should I need to apply for a visitor visa with fund proof (as I'm not in Canada) with an explanation letter on grounds of my PGWP in supporting doc? (They don't ask for any permit you have got, it is a tourist visa) Apparently, it is approved in 13 days in India which is awesome!
