Best way to learn for citizenship test?

I know that the contents of the official study guide Discover Canada, the Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship are all that I need to learn for my test in three weeks time. I have been testing my knowledge on some of the online practice tests, but I am a little concerned that some ask questions not based on the guide. The Richmond Library test seems to be ok. Also citizenshiptests.ca is good because because their answers refer to the page in the guide so I reread the sections I get the answers wrong in. The questions are a tougher than others. Is this a good way to learn for the test? Is it at all worth paying for study courses on some of the other sites?

Read the book many times. The exam is based completely on it, not the third party materials.

i passed test last week with a good score , honestly i tried to study using the book but i could not, too many dates names and information i was having a headache trying to get all that in my mind .
so this is what i did i went through all the existing online testes and practised them all and this was of a great help to me knowing that i did not rely on the book .

Same here. I did a lot online questions also purchase the citizenship app and do it on my phone. I know there are lots of people say donot count on the online quiz but it really help me to memory all the name and events and dates. After finish all the quiz, read the book twice again. Good luck friend.

I read the book twice and took every practice exam on http://www.citizenshipsupport.ca/ over and over until I was scoring 100 every time.

Note that http://www.citizenshipsupport.ca/ is not free but i found it worth the $30. If you don't want to pay, there are many free online practice tests. Just goolge for them

Took the test a few days ago. My opinion is that the questions were ridiculously simple and the options were such that 3 of them (wrong ones) will be bizare. Forget about all these tests and practise tests. READ THE BOOK. Read it 2-3x. Thats all. The test is designed to see whether you know how the country works (what does a prime minister do, what do the MPs do, whats the role of the governor general, who do you vote for in elections, what do you do if you are charged with something but cant afford an attorney etc). Honestly, these are things you should know if you plan to live here, and you probably already know most of them.


Dont stress out about it. I did - and i felt sick when i went to take the test because I stressed out so much. You will be fine. The only reason you can fail the test is if your language abilities (english or french) are poor and you cant understand the questions at all.

P.S. The history of canada is kindof cool I am glad I learnt it though - I am looking forward to visiting some museums and historical sites along the st lawrence river, quebec, NB and NS.

You don't need to remember all dates and name by heart. You just need to recognize the good answer between 3 other options aor just realize which are not the good asnwers ;D
