Hi,

I left the country several times to fly to Europe for family visits during my 3 year period relevant for the citizenship application.

As passports are not stamped on departure and the CBSA report does not show departures either, I was wondering what forum members would see as best secondary evidence when the boarding passes are no longer available? After all, I guess CIC would be interested to confirm that I did leave the country on the indicated date and not earlier (the return date is given by the passport stamp and/or CBSA report). The only thing I can think of is:

a) lease agreement & pay slips: for general documentation of residence
b) credit card statements: to show transactions in Canada as close to the departure date as possible

Any other recommendations?

Thanks!

Thanks - I have only been to my home country and so there are not stamps. As far as I remember I wouldn't have received any stamps within the EU anyway.

Hi... Best alternative from you to have your employment earning slip ( pay slip )

no other documents better than pay slip, doctor visit.. also suggest contact airlines

you may get the flight ticket or you may have e ticket that will help..

What passport you are currently holding if you have a passport which require europe

visa than that date is valid and there must be stamp in European countries.

US CBP report. Airline return tickets. If you ask the airlines they may be able to see if they can provide something

You can contact the airline company and ask them to issue you an official itinerary letter of statement. I have gotten an official statement from Alitalia Airlines declaring that my wife did took her flights on specific dates back and forth. She didn't save her flight tickets but managed to get a statement from airlines verifying her taken trip.

We provided the airline the necessary booking reference number and passport number used to allow them to track down my wife's flight and issue statement.

I don't know if all airlines allow this or charges a fee for it. I may have gotten lucky with alitilia in getting an statement and free of charge.

For clarification:

Hopefully you meant four years, not just three.

If your residency covers just three years and you traveled outside Canada during those three years, that is not going to make it. You really need a full three years of days actually present in Canada, and if proof is requested, then proving days present, days absent covering the four relevant years.

Beyond that, note that proof of travel dates may be a significant factor, but if CIC has reason to question residency (and issues RQ), as others have noted, proof of employment is far more significant, and proof of place of abode at declared residential addresses is also more important than collateral proof of travel dates.

Reminder: there are many more days in-between days of travel than there are days of travel, and CIC can focus on those with relentless intent sometimes. That is, proving activity in Canada is more important proving dates of exit and entry.

A very recent decision, for example, turned on the applicant's lack of evidence of activity in Canada during the first 108 days following the day he became a Permanent Resident. No indication the government had any evidence he soon, let alone almost immediately left Canada after becoming a PR (he was in Canada as a refugee at the time of becoming a PR), but because his proof of activities only covered 1080 days beginning 108 days after the date of becoming a PR, the CJ and Federal Court in effect deducted those 108 days from the calculation and ruled he fell 15 days short. He was denied citizenship. (See Justice Fothergill's decision in the Ukaobasi case .)

@dpenabill

Yes, I meant of course 4 years and not 3.

I went back to Switzerland only days after getting landed immigrant status to settle everything and only came back several months later. However, this absence has been considered and reported in my application.
