I've done my research about Ontario and I'm aware that job prospects aren't great for future or existing residents. I'm interested in Ontario because geographically it's close to where my family lives in the states. At one point I was considering moving to Alberta or Saskatchewan, but moving that far away isn't realistically feasible for me. I personally need a new perspective on life and I want to move to a different country to get that.
I have a few questions and would deeply appreciate informative replies!
1. I'm a dual citizen with the US and Canada. I have a good credit score in the US. Will my US credit history be relevant to a Canadian bank if I go to apply for a car loan? Will I have to start over in Canada to establish a credit history?
2. What are the most economically diverse cities that don't rely on manufacturing as their economic base? I'm thinking of looking for work in Ottawa, Guelph, London, or Burlington. I want to avoid the traffic congestion and overpriced housing of the Greater Toronto Area, but I'm open minded enough to take it into consideration if the prospects for employment are better in the GTA region. What are the best areas to look for retail management or warehouse management positions?
3. What about driving history? If I get my DZ truck license would my good driving record from the states be enough information to provide to an employer for hiring purposes, or would I have to wait a year with an Ontario G license and then apply for employment?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
