Best Place in Toronto for New comers

Hi Everyone,
I am planning to move in Toronto in couple of months. I am moving with my wife and 3 year old Kid, and wondering to know which place would be better in terms of security, community, facilities, transportation and close to downtown.
currently I am living in Dubai (U.A.E.). somebody told me that Scarborough is a good option for the beginners but after doing some online research again i got mixed answers.
i would really appreciate if someone can guide me to find the best place for family.

From what I "hear", you should avoid Scarborough... Rents should be less but security is an issue... I might be wrong but this is what I hear from people who've been there...

Scarborough has it's pros and cons. If you biggest concern is security, you are better off staying away from that area. A better option might be somewhere along the Bloor Street subway line (east or west), or Mississauga.

I would agree on Mississauga... I personally liked the place... I stayed there for more than a month last year and it seemed like a nice place to live in...

If anyone else have more views on Mississauga, it would be appreciated if you can share it...

Thanks a lot for your views yes security is my first priority becasue i am moving with my family, is this place " Bloor Street subway line " expensive ?
like if i am looking for $1000 for 1BR will i be able to get in this area?

Mississauga is te best place to live. I live there as well. I moved from dubai as well.
You can get 1BR in $1000.
