Best Bank for newcomers

Guys,
I am thinking of opening an account in scotia from New Delhi.......Is it advisable to do so? Or do i have better options.
Also which type of account should i go for in Scotia?

With my experience i would recommend ScotiaBank anytime anyday. They are better than most esp for new comers. I did not see the same type of service with TD. Go with the Start Right program. They will open a powerchequing account. You will also be able to apply for a visa credit card and open a bank locker (called safety deposit box). They waive the charge on all of these for 1 yr. The regular charge of the account is $5, while other banks cost more (td charges $12).

1 CAD current account + CAD check book + ATM card +1 Visa card (limit 1000) + 1 Visa gold card (Limit 5000 against my reserve amount) + 1 deposit Box(Locker) + 1 USD current account + 1 USD check book

ALL FREE WITH NO CHARGES FOR THE LIFE TIME (TILL THE TIME I HAVE THAT 5000 AS RESERVE)

So they did not give anything free, they are earning interest on your 5000 $, you didnt mention this 5000 are blocked or invested (do u get interest on it)

Well, I am completely not intersted in Interest (SOOD/Riba). and Yes this 5000 is Blocked, but it is my money, and I can take it whenever I wish. the only difference is as soon as my account balance go below 5000 CAD, they will charge me for all these things for the following month.
