Northwest Calgary is probably the best. Safest too.

Southwest Calgary is the best best connected to Calgary downtown. However it is also the most expensive area. I will be happy to advise anyone and help where I can. Feel free to pm me.

Northwest and Southeast Calgary is also connected to Calgary downtown.

Hey guys, i just got my visa & am planning on landing in calgary next month. My wife & kid will follow later once i manage to rent a place. I've been doing research & i've heard that vacancy in calgary is barely 1% & it is extremely hard to rent a place, as they're gone as soon as they're listed.

I would appreciate any help in getting a 2 bedroom place, location isn't important as long as it's near public transport & not too far from downtown.

Check the site Renfaster.ca for rent, what you mentioned above is a exaggerated form of perception, rental place are difficult to find in some areas of Calgary but not to extent you are informed. You can find a two-three bedroom town house ranging from 1400 - 1800/mo. Yes, for new comer the problem could be Credit history and Salary slip/ history, then you need to have some good references to secure a place. The last, option could be you give first and last month rent and Security deposit to landlord as assurance.

Thanks for the reply, i've been looking on Rentfaster & there are quite a few places. Giving a few months advance is not a big problem for me. I also have a friend who's well established there who can be my reference.

Are you living in Calgary? I'm trying to find a 2 bedroom place (not a basement), my friend has recommended looking in the N.W region, but i don't have any preferences as long as the place is decent & near public transport. I'm also open to living a little outside Calgary, Okotoks, High River, Airdrie etc. If nothing works out in Calgary i'll probably move down to Lethbridge until i manage to find work.

Sorry for late reply, I recommend you live in NE Calgary, your life will be much easy and social contacts would be much faster.
