Agree with Canuck , if you have a job interview lined up, always better to see that thru. Since this benefit is only temporary, it’s not permanent. Eventually the benefit will stop. If you don’t get the job, then look into the benefits
As they say “ Don’t burn your bridges”

Have you filed your taxes yet? Until you file your taxes, you will not be able to set up an online CRA account. To register you will need to provide information from your personal income tax return from one of the two most recent tax years. Your tax return for either of these two years must have been filed and assessed for you to register.

Hello guys,

Please I need advice on this. I just got my study permit last week (I am in Canada and my studies begin in September 2020). Actually, my PR aaplication was refused in December 2019 and my work permit expired too, so I was out of status and had to restore status as a student. Last year, I worked full time. I am currently in the EE pool for PR again and expecting an ITA soon.

My questions: I am not sure if i am eligible for CERB. If I apply, will it affect my PR application? Will I be penalised? Or I will only need to pay it back next year tax season? Please reply. TIA

Why would you qualify for CERB? You mention your work permit expired. You had to have lost your job because of Covid . It’s online and here the terms & conditions of applying . It’s irrelevant if you worked full time if you didn’t lose your job for the reason stated above . You either qualify or not . You don’t.
Canada’s tax system is based upon self assessment, meaning all the information you give is based upon the facts, not whether or not you’ll be penalized post filing

But asides paying it back next year during the tax season, is there any other penalty?
