Yes, they say they don't want applications with a huge amount of evidence - that is, until all of a sudden they reject someone because there is not enough evidence. I had CIC employees tell me it was not necessary to submit every phone bill, for example, and that a sample was enough, but I've also read appeal hearings where the judge dismissed the appeal saying well, if they had this or that at the time of application, why didn't they submit it? My husband was rejected, and one reason was not enough evidence.toby said:That's the crux of the matter: how do you know CIC wants voluminous details? They never say so in the guides.
When my wife and I went to the interview, the CIC officer mentioned spontaneously that some people submit applications several inches thick. He said so in disbelief, as if it were a negative thing to do.
As long as some people are being rejected because of lack of evidence, and as long as some appeal judges are saying things like "but they only submitted 3 phone bills; didn't they communicate the rest of the time?", there are going to be people who feel they have to submit an application several inches thick.
Judge it by your visa office, and by how 'normal' your relationship seems to outsiders. And keep it very well organized, so even if the VO does feel you submitted too much, at least he/she can get through it easily. After all, you can submit 100 pages of emails: but they don't actually have to read them all.
