I have a friend that has been diagnosed with a mental disorder. She has her meds and has been doing well. She would like to visit Canada. She is a US citizen. I know US citizens coming for tourism under 180 days do not need a visa. My question as per her condition, would she need to get a visa? Would the border control allow her into the country because of the medical diagnosis? There have been stories online of Canadians that have come to visit the US but were not allowed to enter because of the mental disorder whether is depression or whatever. Does this happen to US citizens visiting Canada? Does she need a visitor visa?

Please Help!

She does not need a visa. And even if she had one - that still wouldn't guarantee entry into Canada.

As long as she is visiting for a reasonable length of time, has money to support herself while she's here and doesn't look like she's trying to move to Canada to live here - she should be fine.
