Hello hmisabki,
Nice work you are doing here.
My wife and i will be migrating to canada next year hopefully, my wife intends to start a NEW career in Nursing but we dont have any clue on the steps to take... She is a graduate of Chemistry and we intend to land in alberta or Saskatchewan.
Are there any exams or info that we can start working with from our home country before landing to expedite this career option ?
kindly reply

Hi, Omo Naija,

Thanks for appreciation. (PM is also replied)
As she is going to change the career she needs to start from basic in Nursing. However some similar subject can be waived after the evaluation of her educational credentials. At this point she doesn't need to do anything from home country.

She can visit the below site and check the further requirements for nursing programs in respective provinces.

In addition she can also check the admission requirement for nursing programs.

Hi, coolguy.vanky,

Thanks for nice words.
As mature student she needs to have Grade 12 English, Math, Biology and Chemistry. Some college will accept her credit transfers also. Below are the links to go through the admission requirements.

Admission Requirements
Program Eligibility (Degree Program):
Mature students (age 21 or older):
must also submit proof of credits in the above subject list. In addition, mature students with post secondary education must meet the following University and College GPA requirements:
•University G.P.A. Requirements:
Completion of at least four full courses or one year of full-time degree studies at an accredited university with a minimum 3.0 (B/70% or equivalent).
•College G.P.A. Requirement:
Completion of at least two full semesters or one year of full-time studies at an accredited college with a minimum 3.0 (B/70% or equivalent).
Applicant Selection:
•Grades in pre-requisite subjects (or their equivalents) may be used as a basis for the selection of candidates.

Mature Students
(applicants 21 years of age or over with no college or university background)
•Mature applicants to the BN program will be required to have a minimum grade of 70 per cent in Grade 12 English (ENG4U), Grade 11 Mathematics (MCF3M or MCR3U) or any Grade 12 U level Mathematics, Grade 12 Chemistry (SCH4U) and Grade 12 Biology (SBI4U).
•Students whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in English by undertaking and submitting the results from a standardized English language test. For a list of acceptable tests and minimum scores, please see Humber's English Language Proficiency Policy. Humber reserves the right to require a successfully completed language proficiency test based on the requirements of the specific program.

I'm a newly registered nurse from the philippines, I was Licensed last february 2012, We landed here in Canada last April 11,2012, so I have no work experience yet, Can I still apply for CRNBC or CLPNBC?

Is it possible that they will approve my application? or should I wait for the assessment, to determine whether I'll take some additional subjects/course?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Dheapot,

Yes you can apply for CRNBC or CLPNBC.
They will do the assessment to determine whether you can go for exam or bridging program.

No disrespect meant, but neither of you have excellent English skills, perhaps you should post exactly what it said in the letter and we can read it and perhaps give our interpretation of it. To me it sounds like they want proof of her RN education from her University...otherwise, they would have said you are eligable to write the CRNE.

Sheena, I have just had a similar letter from the CNO and what it ACTUALLY means is that they haven't made a decision yet about her whether her education meets the RN requirement. Sorry, but Hmisabpk is wrong here.

If your friend has submitted all the documentation the 'outstanding' means the CNO are still looking at her file, like they are with mine.

They are very slow though!

Thanks dear..

Sheena as per CNO they use 2 terms i.e either requirement MET or requirement OUTSTANDING.
So in ur friends case its is stated as outstanding which does not mean the outstanding or excellent term .
Hope u r clear .

As a recipient of PPR through MPNP, can one study in another province after landing.pls help
