Be aware of Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Ontario and Stay away.

They have been exploiting and just taking money from international students and then screwing them over.

Their number #1 source of income and the only one in profit is international students. Despite having to pay premium tuition fees, they treat you like tissue papers.

Not too familiar into details of the story above, but my experience with Lakehead as an international student for 3 years is completely different.
My English wasn't very good when I first came here, and I finished 2 years in a row in the Dean's list for academic achievements, because of the support I got in Lakehead and because of my hard work.

I know that the international office as well as my faculty are doing everything they can to help me graduate asap. In my eyes, we control on our marks and overall experience and not administrations. I'm calling from here to any student out there who wants to study abroad, my international student friends and myself are very happy here. No matter where you go there is a surface to assist anyone, seek for it, don't blame others, it's the easy way.

That still does't make the university good. Screwing even 1% international students is bad. Accountability should be there.

News article is not about the happy international students but about who have been the victim. I have to ask if you even read the news article before commenting?

Until you are not the victim and lost 10,000 of dollars. System is not perfect and international students do get screwed in every university even if it is a small amount but university is never a victim. They always make money.

Brother/Sister, Hope you are doing great. I just posted a news article and not a random story told by student. BEWARE means that you should be aware of something that happened. If something is published in news, people should know and decide themselves. There was another years ago where a prof from a top university used 1 Million+ funding money on personal leisure. Please need to aware that you can be mugged in Time square even though most of the time everyone has a good experience.

Being Investigated my Ministry and provincial government is not a good sign for any institute.
