BC PNP Recruitment Efforts Question

Hi everyone.

I am preparing my PNP application and I need some feedback on what is required from my employer in relation to what recruitment efforts they made. My position was new at the time they hired me and they didn't post my position online. Can anybody shed some light on how we could show that they made recruitment efforts that an officer may be satisfied with?

Thanks in advance.

hi.

your employer must post a job ad at http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/ for at least 14 days. this is mandatory at bc pnp. and has to write a recommendation letter about you. so there he can explain why he wants to keep you or that he couldn't find a suitable person for that position etc.

But he didn't when he was looking for someone in the beginning, (18 months ago) will it help if he posts it now? The recommendation letter is no problem.

I suggest you read through the information on this page

http://www.welcomebc.ca/wbc/immigration/come/work/about/strategic_occupations/index.page?WT.svl=LeftNav

I don't know under which category you are applying..

I did it this way. I am the skilled worker category under bc pnp.

I worked for two years in the same company. after those two years my work visa expired and I applied for the nomination. My employer posted a job ad at jobbank canada for about 6 weeks and reviewed the resumes which came in. there weren't any suitable applicants. he also put job ads on other websites.

just follow the checklist for the pnp application. it all states there.

if you have a current work permit with lmo maybe you do not need to do so much effort? I don't know your situation. but you can also write questions regarding the application to the bc pnp people. they answer usually on the next day and are very nice.

Thank you for you reply. I am also applying as a skilled worker in BC and I am coming to the end of my second work permit. Would it help if he posted it on jobbank now before I lodge my PNP application and provided evidence that he did not find a suitable applicant?

Thanks again.

yes. we did the same. we first gathered everything together. first post the job ad. and make screenshots of the job posting and put it into your application.
then apply for bc pnp.

in my case I went back to europe and waited there for the nomination, but just because i had personal stuff to do as well.

if you stay in canada while waiting for the nomination you have to maintain legal status. so if your work permit expires either apply for a new one or for a visitor status..

to get the nomination takes about 10 weeks. after that you can apply for permanent residency.

download the application package for bc pnp. there is a checklist included. go through that with your employer because he has to provide some copies of documents regarding the company.

once you have the nomination certificate you will also get a letter from bc pnp so you can apply for a work permit without lmo. it is tied to your sponsoring company.

if you are from a visa exempt country you can go to the border and they give you the work permit there (150 CAD). in my case i flew back to canada and i got a 2year workpermit in the immigration section at the airport.

Steffi,

Where is it stated that the support letter from BC PNP can be used instead of LMO? I went thru BC PNP website and didn't find any clear statements for the same.

thnx

http://www.welcomebc.ca/wbc/immigration/come/work/about/strategic_occupations/information/process.page?

"If you intend to work in BC while waiting for the processing of your permanent resident visa application, you are responsible to apply for and to keep your work permit valid up until you become a permanent resident. Nomination by the BC PNP does NOT authorize you to work legally while awaiting processing of your permanent resident visa. If required, we may issue you, (the Nominee), a work permit support letter which will assist you in applying to CIC for a new or renewed work permit full-time employment in a specific job with a BC employer."

Thanks Steffi.

I saw that, but "support" doesn't say "LMO not needed".

BC PNP officer replied by mail, so I'm satisfied now :)

If nominated by the BC PNP, you do not need to go though the Labour Market Opinion process. Once nominated, you will then receive a work permit support letter for you to apply through CIC to obtain a work permit based on your employer. If you were to be refused on your application, your employer will then have to apply for a LMO for you to obtain a work permit.

Dear Steffi & Movado,

I find this thread helpful. I am Ravi, based in Hamburg, working for about 9 years in Germany as Electronics Engineer. I am a German citizen and I wish to relocate to Burnaby, BC to our branch office. My company is willing to sponsor me but are sort of stepping back as they dont want to reveal any salary related info on the job postings! So they are refraining from BC PNP as we have to do job posting for 2-6 weeks. I believe PNP would be the ideal option for me as I have been investigating the same for about an year and my relocation was being delayed as my German citizenship was in processing. How does the job posting made by your emplpyer look like? Did they mention salary range as well? I found some thing like this workbc.ca/JobSeekers/DisplayJobPostingApply.aspx?jobid=179826

When we approach PNP office with job contract, they should find the exact salary details and could simply find out if I am in the range and not underpaid.. right?

Cheers,
Ravi.
