Hi Canada PC,

I understand how you're feeling right now. When I file for my PNP I only had 2 months left on my WP, as you could imagine it was very stressful. I have to explore all avenues, so that I could come up with a best possible solution given the situation. When I sent them an email a month or so after, I clearly specify my understanding that, I am still very well within the processing time, it was a huge favor that I was asking for. They were kind enough and reply to my email an hour after office hrs and said decision has been made, and I should recvd it by mail. So there's no harm in sending them an email, although each case is different but give it a try.

Goodluck.

R1982, wow, so almost 5 months and no reply? Wow, my number is 43**, AOR in July 22, how long will I wait for?
Omg, they must have hands full of our applications, not easy for them as well...
Wish everybody luck....
I need to stop working in a week....and change my status to a visitor....I cannot apply for EI or welfare, cause no work permit, so no income....
its gonna be hard.....

I want the same, did your company agree?

Yes, they agreed.

I called cic last Thursday in regards to maintaining legal status in Canada while waiting for Pnp decision. The rep said that if my status is changed from work permit to visitor visa, i would have to apply for a working permit outside of Canada. However, the bridging open work permit can only be applied in Canada if I have a valid work permit and currently live in Canada. Therefore, it doesn't really help even though bc pnp provides work permit support letter if my work permit expires. Have anyone called CIC regarding what possible options or solutions there are if one's work permit expire before bc pnp approval?

Hi Hopee
under which program did you come to Canada? It all depends on that:)
My situation is very similar like yours. PNP is provincially based, CIC is federal government, two separate things. Having said that, if you are waiting for PNP approval, you need to maintain your legal status in Canada: Having AOR from PNP would not support the legal status. Now, when your PNP comes through, you can apply for an open work permit by submitting all necessary documents.
I was told to do that from Canada, because you will be changing your status again. In order to make sure this is 100% correct, I would suggest go to the local federal government in person (CIC phone sometimes has a long waiting time).
I hope I could help a bit....

Hi Canada PC,
I m on post grad wp now, but it will expire in nov, so I need to figure what will happen after the permit expires. Thank u for ur comment! I didn't know I could go to Vancouver cic office in person for inquiry.

Hello,
I am soon going to apply for my BC PNP but the unfortunate thing is that my work permit expires in Nov 2014 end& I can't continue working :( I waited this long as I just got a permanent full time position as a Nurse. I really don't know what to do as it will take 5-6 months to get the PNP and am running out of time. Do PNP applications get rejected ? Any suggestions about how can I extend my stay here?
