Hi,

I have been working in the company for a year and 4 month and now planning to apply for bc pnp. I don't see this requirement in the checklist but my friend says that my company still has to advertise my job online, preferably on Job Bank for at least two weeks. Is this true? I'm not sure if he has mixed it up with lmo application...

Many thanks!!

If I remember correctly, there's a section in one the forms that the employer must fill out (I think it's the Job offer form) where they have to explain what kind of efforts have been made to hire a Canadian. In order to get your PNP approved your employer must show that they haven't been able to find a Canadian for the job, which is why they're wanting to hire you.

So the job advertising is not explicitly required in the checklist, but it needs to be done anyway. An immigration consultant I spoke a few times back when I first applied for BCPNP said that previously the recommended advertising time was 2 weeks, but has since been upped to at least 4-6 weeks, and ideally the job should be advertised in at least a few other mediums besides a job bank (company blog, commercial job site, bulletin board etc.).

If you and your employer's timelines permit, then try to have the advertisements up for as long as you possibly can before submitting the PNP application. And be sure to take screen captures / photos periodically of the sites/other places to show that the post has been continuously there - ideally don't take the posts down at least until you get your PNP file number.
