Happy new year everyone!

I applied for BC PNP in July and received my AOR on Jul 22 (file number SO-14-41**). Skilled employee stream.
When I applied I was hoping that my file would be processed before the end of the 2014 but that didn't happen.

My WP (PGWP is that matters) expires on Feb-18, so, I need to apply for extension before Jan-18.
I have a full time job and would love to keep working as long as possible.

I am thinking about applying for extending my (and my wife's) stay as a visitor offline in the middle of January. Judging by current processing times that takes up to 90 days. So, we will be staying under implied status. As far as I understand, implied status means that we will stay in our current status until we receive our visitors permits, so we can continue to work. Am I right here? This will allow us to work for an extra month or two. Is there a better option?

Looking at BC PNP topics I think there will be a lot of people in the similar situation.

Another question is how long of an extend I should apply for? And how much money they expect to be shown?

Thanks

Incorrect PGWPs are not extendable, hence won't give you implied status. Just like IEC.

Ugh. I couldn't find any explanation of how implied status works.

Now I see.
I guess the general rule is "If you apply for a different kind of permit, you do not have implied status. "

You will have Implied Status allowing you to stay in Canada until you receive a decision on the visitor app but you cannot continue to work beyond the expiry date of your work permit. You should check to see if you are eligible for a BOWP (I believe some PNP applicants aren't, so you need to double check).

Thanks, canuck_in_uk.

Well. As soon as I get my PNP I will be eligible to apply for WP with provincial support letter. Other than that I didn't see any options for BOWPs. I'm going to check their website.

Nobody said anything about the money. How much do I need to show?

Sorry, didn't realize you were still waiting on provincial approval. I thought you had already submitted your PNP app to CIC. In that case, a BOWP is not a possibility. Is your employer willing to apply for an LMIA?

There is no set amount. For visitor apps for both yourself and your wife, you should show at least a few thousand dollars per month for however long you ask for.
