Hello everyone! Does anybody know what kind of Work Permits are not accepted for qualifying for the Entry Level BC PNP? I am an english student holding a temporary Co-op WP. Differently from what I believed a couple months ago when I searched the PNP web site, I'm not quite sure if I qualify for the program with my current work permit. On the web site it does not specify what kind of work permit one must hold in order to qualify for the program. It says: you must hold a ''valid WP'' and be legaly employed by the sponsoring company for at least 9 months prior to the application date.

I sent an e-mail to the BC PNP office a couple months ago explaining my situation and they said I would qualify for the program. However, I sent another e-mail two days ago and the same office said that I do not qualify for the program if I don't have an LMO based work permit.

Is there any chance the second officer was mistaken and I can qualify for the program with my current WP? I've been working for the company throught which I intend to apply for the PNP for 5 months and was counting the days to start the process. Plus, it would be very frustrating having to go look for another company willing to go throught an LMO process, waiting 9 more months and taking the risk to be out of the Pilot Program. I've also heard that the Pilot Project will only last until the Olympic Games. Is that true??

Thank you very very much!!

Dear English student:

Are you from leeds or sussex? I am from Birmingham. The work permit you hold is a student work permit which is given to students. You may qualify for canadian permanent residence under International Gradute Stream if you meet the conditions. They are looking for those WP which are NOT for students BUT for professionals and Labor Market Opinion is provided from HRSDC.

Hi BC guy!

I had no other way of getting your attention! :)

I am in a permanent full time job in customer service at a car rental company and wanted to know just one thing: my job title and the skills fall under Skill Set C. Therefore according to my research this makes me ineligible to apply under the BC PNP program? as i am not in the tourism/food processing/long haul trucking industry.

Or is it that the immigration officer will take a look at experience gained overseas in customer service and other skilled professions that i have had in the past which also fall under Skill Set B? What about other factors such as age, speaking french, having a masters degree etc?

Hopefully you can help me BC GUY! am desperate to stay here and continue working here ;D

You do not need to have an LMO, you can apply, being on any work permit, whether it's based on a LMO or not.
I'm on a ICE visa (no LMO) and have applied for PNP.

From the BC PNP website.

ENTRY LEVEL AND SEMI-SKILLED

In order to apply under this category nominee applicants must have worked for their employer in BC, (or within the Northeast Development Region where required), full-time in an eligible occupation for a period of at least nine consecutive months immediately prior to the date their BC PNP application is submitted. Nominee applicants must also maintain continuous full-time employment with the BC employer throughout the application process. Work experience that forms an integral part of a program of study (co-op) or is obtained using an Off-Campus Work Permit does not qualify toward this nine month work experience requirement.
