That sounds amazing! I wish there was some way of applying in Skilled worker category without having a pre-arranged job offer! I know so many smart people who have Master's degrees from the USA and would like to move to BC, but no such thing as the AINP-SRS H1-B plan. I wish they come up with something like that where one can self-sponsor in the SFW category!

Anyway, good to know that at least some people are able to take advantage of the sense that Canada and BC have, something that the US here lacks! :)

ADDED: It is even more frustrating to know that I can probably land a job in BC relatively easily - because I work in a technology that is big in the Vancouver area, especially because the software product company has a big office there. :(
Just wondering - has BC, at any point, had an open self-sponsor SFW program like Alberta?

If you think you can land a job in BC easily, go vacation there and look for jobs. If you can get somebody to give you an AEO, you can apply. Canada used to have the FSW program open until very recently, no job offer or special occupation needed if you had enough points and what happened was that the system got flooded with all kinds of people that Canada needed or didn't need and the processing time went up to 6 or 7 years from some countries. The kind of time that people die while waiting for immigration :) So they changed it. Now, if you think it's really that easy for you to get a job in Canada, prove it.

I think I have seen enough with Employer-sponsored PR application here in the USA for a lifetime! AINP is a great program which lets you get the foot in the door and then you can see for yourself if you are capable of getting a job there. The company I work for also has an office in Richmond, BC but I am not sure if I want to take that chance of getting tied to an employer, who you never know tomorrow can go bust and lay you off!

Since I am in the US, I also have the option of applying directly under the FSW and not worry about PNP, but I am still debating what the best route would be! =)

Cheers!

You mean because you are on the 38 list? Being in the US doesn't give you any special rights to apply for FSW but yeah, you could apply through AINP or find some other way :)

I am not 100% sure if I will fall under the 38-list, but I was under the impression that the fact that you are in the US at least saves your processing time immensely because the Buffalo office is so much more quicker than applying through one's home country office!

Regardless, I am going to sit tight and hope for one of these two options to work in my favor.

Nobody knows the processing for FSW anymore since the new rules. Everywhere is supposed to be fast now but no experience on it yet.

Under the new FSW rules, if you don't fall into the 38 list, you need a job offer too.

Wow, I did not know that! So looks like only managers can now immigrate under this category w/o AEO - interesting!

Anyway, thanks BCGuy for the information you posted about BC PNP -- gives people a reason to think about exploring more than one options.

Why is that most of them are applying to Alberta even though skilled occupations list is almost identical for Alberta and British Columbia? Only reason I could find is that for BC there is a $520 application fee.

Most are applying for Alberta because Alberta has a program for H1B visa holders in the US that lets them immigrate without a job offer. For BC PNP you need a job offer.

BC has a 550$ fee,We are not as rich as Alberta,But We make it up in quality of life and speed of processing,Do you know any AINP processed and nominated in 20 Days?5 weeks? Not too many I think. We dont have the MSP upon arrival unlike our rich Albertan Neighbours,But I dont see Calgary or Edmonton among the top 10 best cities in the world to live in,We are down a bit at number 8 But way ahead of the Closest Toronto at #18.We require Job offers because We want to make sure that you have a secure future in "The Best Place on Earth"Our Provincial Tagline,But in reality We are now down to #6 in the World,But still not bad

BCguy,

Good point. A friend of mine lives in Vancouver and he loves there so much that he never wants to move to another city. He had a very good job offer from a bank in Toronto, but he decided to stay in Vancouver and work for a small bank with a much lower salary.

What is MSP?

This is really impressive but think about it, You are getting 550 on each application. This is not a help. Firstly, poor H1B worker will have to find a job and then will have to pay 550 dollars. We don't do that. Albertans are famous for Helping others. We continue to do so.

Guys,
20 days -- !!!
How do you apply for a Canadian Permanent Residency through BC PNP Program ?
$ 550 is nothing if we get a Canadian permanent residency sooner.
Is it more complicated ?
any website shows that matter?
