Hey Guys,

I am recently informed by an acquaintance of mine(an immigration lawyer) that you have to have $10,500 in your account as a requirement for your CEC immigration process completion.

Is that true?I personally don't believe it as I didn't read it anywhere in the guide. But I would like to hear from seniors and peopel who have already landed that if they had to fullfill any requirement like this? Did they ever even ask you guys for bank statement or funds equal to amount of 10,500 or something.

Any answers would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

Absolutely not. Money has nothing to do w/ CEC, you dont have to submit bank statement or any other financial docs. Experience + English are the keys.

That's exactly what i know so far. But now I am thinking what about the time of landing? Would teh officer be interested in having a look at your financial status?

I know it doesn't matter but I just wanna be sure that I don't miss anything!

Thanks for your reply btw!

THAT YOUR IMMIGRATION LAWYER IS LACKING SOME INFORMATION.. U ONLY SHOW PROOF OF FUNDING WHEN UR APPLYING AS A FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER AND NOT CEC.. U BETTER BECAREFUL BECAUSE SOMETIMES IMMIGRATION LAWYERS CAN MISLED U.. THEY ARE ONLY INTERESTED IN YOUR MONEY AND NOTHING MORE. THEY DONT CARE WHETHER UR APPLICATION IS APPROVED OR REJECTED. ONCE U PAY THEM, THE REST IS HISTORY SO BEWARNED. I AM SAYING BASED ON MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. I WILL NEVER EVER USE ANY IMMIGRATION LAWYER AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE..

For CEC, proof of funds is NOT required.

However, some people have reported on this forum that during landing, IOs have requested proof of funds. They are not supposed to, it is absolutely not required for CEC class applicants, but being right doesn't always help.

If you can, just to be "safe," it's better to have some documentation (e.g recent letter of employment or most recent paystub) showing that you are still earning wages, and/or bank statements (don't have to be in Canada), even if they don't add up to the 10,500 minimum... Better to have them and not need them, than the other way around...

Hopefully the new systems will reduce such errors...

There is no funding requirement for CEC but, Yes, when you are completing your landing you need to show you bank statements to satisfy the officer that you have money to survive in Canada.

I was at the the Rainbow bridge border last Saturday for my landing but couldnt do it b'coz the Canadian Immigration system was down. But the officer at the post was really nice and I did manage to ask him what is the minimum amount they are looking for and he said that for CEC their is not minimum amount but he said they still need to see that you have some funds in the Bank or with you.

I will be attempting my landing again next week hopefully ;D

Thanks, that was helpful! So, there is a slight chance they can ask but it's funny when you are earning regularly why would they wanna see 10,500 minimum. It doesn't make sense. It makes sense for people who are coming from abroad first time with the landing documents to make sure they can adjust themselves here with that much amount, but not for a person who is already living here and settled.

Well hope for the best!
