Reference letters are the proof of experience. Pay stubs or bank statements are optional.

Is your experience in Canada or outside? For experience outside Canada, most people just give a experience letter.

I have US work experience

Then you only need an experience letter which includes the relevant detail.

You can also provide other optional support docs like pay stubs. But that is optional

It's not requested but it's definitely something that strengthens your case.

In my country we usually don't have pay stubs, so I should just mention it in the reference letter, then it should be fine, right?

Your experience letter should mention your salary. If it does not, then you need to submit pay stubs/ tax information
