Bank loan or Sufficient bank balance

Guys, my query is: Is Bank loan is compulsory for study permit or just Bank balance with sufficient funds will be enough?

its not necessary you can show sufficient funds in the bank account provided the funds are 6 months old.
P.S. talking about general category study permit.
 
Do we need to maintain that balance for six months continuously? As CIC is asking for 4 months bank transaction statement.

It's 4 months only as far as I know.

the funds should be in your account since 6 months and i am saying that to be on the safer side.
after your visa you can use those funds as per you want.
