Bank draft from India and encashment

Hi
How long it will take to encash a bank draft from state bank of india. I took all the money in the form of dd from india and now the bank is saying it will take time to encash it as it will have to go to india and back....how long dudes without money in hand....let me know how long

if it goes through Canadian Bank usually takes about a month minimum.
