Rs is showing no signs of improvement, today the rate is; 1 CAD = 53.7 INR

During June last year, when i was preparing the application, exchange was around 46 INR for 1 CAD, which means i needed around 6.4 lakh rupees (appx 13,800 CAD for 2 person) to cover the POF requirement but today to cover the the same amount... i need 7.4 lakh rupees!! Which means i need to arrange 1 lakh extra from the initial plan. This serious devaluation of Rs is taking shape of a big problem for people like me who are planning to land in the coming days.

Also, these exchange rates are not the actual buying rate which would be around Rs 1.5-2 per CAD over this. That means spending appx 25k INR to buy 13,800 CAD.

Can anyone tell me of all different forms in which we can take the settlement funds to Canada which is the most economical to buy? I mean, for which form will i need to spend minimum in conversion from INR to CAD?

True , we can never get rate shown ,
Commision and middleman eat 4-5% .

Best is check rates with SBI and ICICI

Dont go with private transfers and havala even if they give couple of rs extra , as something goes wroung then xxxxxxxx.

I m not sure you can take Rs in cash instead of CAD , which is atleast not case with us as we can take £ cash or £ draft and get even better rate inside Ca

I don't think i can take Rs with me and get it converted in Canada, also, not sure even if it is possible.. it'll be cheaper.

Not looking for any illegal/grey way to convert to CAD but even in all acceptable means, which has the lowest commission?

Another question to all, if i open a Hello Canada a/c with ICICI, how will i show the POF at landing? Balance confirmation of the Hello Canada a/c or something else?

Can I show my FDR's with joint account with my mothers name ???? As a POF

Sometimes I bought my CAD directly from Hong Kong Dollar, and at other times I saw other commodity currencies such as the New Zealand dollars has a better exchange rate for CAD, so I first convert the Hong Kong Dollar to New Zealand Dollar and then NZD to CAD. I just want to say you don't have to convert from one currency to another directly, however, I'm not from India.

Even if you bring New Zealand Dollars as POF is fine. Convert it later to CAD after your landing if necessary.

Dont you loose 6% in exchange by that .

I had transfer 30000£ to india. In 1£ = 86 rs rate. To my City bank nre account .
Definately Rs will get up in 2-4 month then i will be better off.
Now i am just thinking to Complete my min landing fund here by next 2 month wages and selling off car etc. to take with me as POF , as not sure they will accept india city bank statement .
