Bad health history question

My boyfriend is a Canadian citizen who is applying to sponsor myself and my two children under common law as PR.

My son, who is 14, has had health problems since he was 7, and sees a pediatric nephrologist due to having kidney issues from an illness years ago. He has problems with hypertension and takes medication for it. He tends to get sick with every bug that goes around and I have had to pull him out of regular public high school to do independent study because his attendance is so bad.

I know this information needs to be disclosed, but I am unsure how to handle it. We go for our medicals in a few weeks and I would appreciate any information on records I should bring, or how else to handle this.

Honesty is the best policy. You don't need to worry about it as spouses and dependant children are exempt from the "excissive demand" medical eligibility requirements when applying under the spousal category of the family class.

I understand they won't refuse the application because of his health, but I wondered if they may at least ask for more information because I'm sure the medical exam will turn up something wrong. If this is one less thing to worry about though I will gladly accept it.

I just made our appointment for our medicals and asked about bringing in meds. The doctor asked what they were and I told him of my son's need for blood pressure meds and why. Despite my telling him we are applying under the family class he says I will need a letter from my son's specialist explaining his condition. He said he'd do the exams and send the results but that he would also need this letter to forward as well.

Can someone please tell me if I should do this or just basically be agreeable and then don't bother doing it?

Why wouldn't you just do as asked?? It's still a medical exam and the doctor still needs information about previous medical tests and conditions in order to do a proper exam. If it were your family doctor, they would ask the same thing. I don't know why you're worried.

The only thing I'm worried about is producing a letter from a doctor within a week.

Also, he wasn't asking for it for himself. He told me I needed it for the Visa office.

If you can't get the letter from the specialist before your medical exam appt. then I would reschedule your appt.
