Applied for study permit as NON-SDS from Qatar via the Abu Dhabi visa office
Submitted - October 13 , 2023
Biometrics Request - October 17, 2023
Medical Request - October 27 , 2023
Medical Completion Confirmation - November 5 , 2023
No movement in the application after that
Tracker currently shows Eligibility , Biometrics and Medical completed meanwhile Background Verification in progress.
Contacted Abu Dhabi with various webforms and they always returned with generic response.
Ordered GCMS notes via CBSA earlier in February 2024 and received them a week ago.

My friend is waiting for his study permit from outside of Canada. It's been 9 months since his background verification has started (according to tracking). I live in Canada and don't know how to help him. Calling IRCC is a dead-end. MP's can't do magic. It's so frustrating.
This is a thread for TRVs. Are you his representative? If not, all you can do is order GCMS notes. Friend doesn’t live in Canada nor in riding so MP cannot help.
Do you have any websites/groups/etc. that shows people's background process? I honestly think 9 months is way too high but don't know about other applicants. Maybe looking at others will give me an idea of how much more should we wait before totally giving up.
Yeah unfortunately I'm not his representative. Can a regular person be his rep? I thought the rep needs to be a lawyer or something.

I have applied for my outland spousal sponsorship and we are in background check from last 3 months. The biometrics and medical are done. The medical was completed and passed in tracker on March 16, 2024 but no update afterwards. I am wondering how long it can take for background check ?
My husband is an Indian citizen but living in Portugal for almost 4 years and has been in Greece too for 2 years, both fall under Schengen area. In our case, eligibility has not started yet. Also, we did not receive pre-arrival as in most of the cases pre-arrival is sent prior to the background and eligibilty.
Any insights?

I am on same boat as you are backgrround check since 1st May for supervisa file from india.
I think soon my application will be the longest in the waiting in CIC records. I got my ITA in July 2018 and eAOR in September 2018. Medical 3 times passed in last 5 and a half years. Multiple ADRs completed in time. All fees paid. I am from military background. On 12 June, 2024 they asked for 5669 and I submitted the next day. I dont know what the fuck is going on!
