Hello, I am independent (self-employed) contract worker in the film industry. Do I have to include the dates of each job (as I may have 4 within the year then time off). Or can I simply state that between 2009 and 2013 I have been a self-employed freelancer. Do I have to include every small trip I have been on for one and two weeks? This would be a great deal of information to dig up and include.

I would put in as much information as you can. They need to know where you were and what you were doing.. I had to resend that form twice after the initial application. The last time was because I didn't go back further enough... I missed two months at the start of the last 10 years.

I have spent the last 5 years travelling.. I was in 3 countries in a week.. I included everything..

I was lucky enough that I had kept all emails relating to my travels. I had airplane tickets and accommodation emails so I was able to piece together (slowly - as I had to dig though years of emails).

Safer to include all info, and they will probably ask you for it anyways. So do it right the 1st time..

My husband is an independent contractor (a consultant in the tech world) and usually has 2 to 6 contracts per year. He listed them all.

The Sponsor Questionnaire IMM5540, question#7 asks you (the sponsor) for "details of all employers you have worked for over the past 5 years". The applicant is also asked for personal (employment) history on Schedule A (IMM5669).

thanks IslandAnnie! but now I am super confused. I have not come across this document once in all the hours of research I have done into this application! I am applying from WITHIN Canada. Do you think this is a form that applies only from outside of Canada?

Yes, it is an Outland form...sorry if I added to your confusion.
