Dear Seniors,

I have one query regarding point 9 (3) of the form IMM 0008 which is as follows:-

9. Have you, or , any of your family members listed in application ever:

"been refused refugee status in, or an immigrant or permanent residence visa or visitor or temporary residence visa to, Canada or any other country, or have been refused a Certificat de selection du Quebec (CSQ) to Quebec."

In my case, my spouse had applied for US visit visa in 2001 as her sister is in US. They had denied the visit visa to her because they thought she will settle in US. In spouse passport, there is stamp of US Consulate General - Application received on 14th NOv 2001" and small stamp of fees refunded from US FACILITATION SERVICE.

In short she had applied for visit visa to US but had been denied due to above reason given.

Do I need to tick "Yes" and give explanation....?

In Initial application to CIO, I had not selected "Yes" and selected "No".

Please advise for same.

Regards
Cool

its not a big deal and you just need to be truthful. you can write YES when you send the docs to VO and write explanation (They had denied the visit visa to her because they thought she will settle in US) in the box provided.

Hi coolguy
That will be no problem ,if anything it will portray you in a very good light (honesty).Actually all canada VO are aware that the majority of visitor visa applicants are not successful.because they themselves turn down quite a good number of applicants for the same reasons (Risk of overstaying).
What you should do is give a good explanation in the box provided at the bottom of the form ,if you answered yes to any of the questions above ,please give details include also copies of any refusal notice; you will see that it won't be an issue in their subsequent correspondence. I did the same myself the file processing is progressing well and one of my visitors visa refusals was from Canada London VO.
I disclosed it in the Background Declaration Update requested, and apparently it is not affecting the processing of my application.

All the best
