Hi,

how the background check is done when applying for student visa, do they contact the previous employer, previous university or the ministry of labour and ministry of higher education? I've tried to google it but no luck.

And why many people in this forum are saying that experience letter is not enough to show that you have work experience. I just don't get it, what is more important than the experience letter?

have a nice day everyone :)

equally important are tax returns, pay slips, bank statements of pay deposit etc exp letter can be easily faked not saying any other documents cannot be faked but probablity is less. yes they contact employer by phone.

Thank you mead for your help,,

After I read your post I tried to look for any pay slips I may kept but I've thrown them all and also I closed the bank account when I resigned without getting any bank statement, though I have my original employment card with my name, photo, title, and the company name. Aside from the experience letter I have original participating certificates in training programs from my company. Do these documents sound good?

Are you sure they contact the employer by phone? I'm just wondering, why they don't check with ministry of labour instead? it applies also to the previous university why not checking with ministry of higher education?

Do they do background check randomly or on every visa? and is there any information in the CIC website?

P.S: people at my previous job are very nosy ::)
